Fed: Aust Services Union to stage national day of protest

Employment services workers will stage demonstrations around the country this week
.. in protest against the federal government's four billion dollar overhaul of the jobs
network.

Up to two thousand workers are facing the sack .. after the government announced 141
providers and 48 sub-contractors had been chosen to run the new Job Services Australia
scheme .. replacing the previous Howard government's Job Network.

The Australian Services Union will hold a national day of protest on Wednesday .. with
retrenched staff set to gather in their hundreds at venues in every capital city except
Darwin.
