Fed: UK PM staffer to head up consumer group

CANBERRA, Dec 1 AAP - A senior adviser to British Prime Minister Gordon Brown is to
become the new boss of consumer advocacy group Choice.

Nick Stace, the former deputy chief of a similar British-based consumer group, will
take over the reins of Choice from February.

Currently working as Mr Brown's director of strategic communications, Mr Stace said
he was excited to be joining Choice.

"During tough economic times, Choice matters to consumers more than ever before - we
fight to make consumers more powerful," he said in a statement.

Mr Stace replaces Peter Kell, who has been appointed deputy commissioner of the Australian
Competition and Consumer Commission.
