Vic:Fox and Lew treated like "rock stars" at Ansett staff party

MELBOURNE, Dec 6 AAP - Ansett bidders Lindsay Fox and Solomon Lew were treated like
rock stars at an Ansett workers' party in Melbourne last night.

About 700 workers attended the "Ansett Staff Relief Party" to raise funds for colleagues
facing financial hardship since the airline's collapse in September.

It was organised as a goodwill gesture by music identity Molly Meldrum and the owners
of Heat nightclub at Crown Casino.

Ansett spokeswoman Heather Jeffery said the airline's administrators Mark Korda and
Mark Mentha also attended the get together, which lasted until the early hours of this
morning.

She said Mr Fox and Mr Lew brought their wives and family and were welcomed like "rock stars".

The Fox-Lew syndicate, Tesna, is the administrators' and unions' preferred bidder.

"It was an amazing night, everyone was there from pilots, engineers, flight attendants
to maintenance workers," Ms Jeffery told AAP.

"Before September we were a really connected and social workforce, so it was really
important for staff morale that we got together."

Proceeds from the $10 tickets would go to the Ansett Staff Hardship Fund to help former
workers make ends meet as Christmas approached.
